Our Graduates have Created Opportunities to get the Jobs they Want

Our students come from many different stages of their professional lives. Some are just starting out in their careers, while others are already well established. Regardless of stage, all our grads realized the opportunities available from taking our programs. Their increased knowledge and skills, combined with the confidence to take that next step in their career, has benefitted many greatly.

Finding the Time to Learn while Juggling the Busy Day-to-Day of our Lives

We know that for our students, time is one of their most valuable resources. Our programs allow our students to work at their own pace, leaving the scheduling of learning, studying and exams up to them.

Through this flexible computer-based training format, our students are able to seek and find the right work life balance to allow them to be successful in these programs. They are able to continue working and spend the time they need with their families while still being able to earn the professional credentials.

Sharpening Skills and Practical Know-How

Knives need sharpening once in a while and so do your skills. Our programs help our students hone their skills. The programs integrate lab experiments with the theory through the use of software that simulates the behavior of real manufacturing tools and systems. It’s a great way to get experience and practice.

Students have the freedom to refer back to the program material using the simulation software to try all the "what-if" scenarios – for example with CircuitLogix, changing parts or component values, then re-running the simulation to see how changes affect the circuit's operation and performance.

Anil Mathew is a Developmental Electrical Designer at Price Industries, where he is responsible for design and drawings of electrical HVAC units. Anil selected the PLC program at George Brown College for ‘career development. It has definitely increased my confidence to program PLC controllers.’

‘The support team was really helpful and supportive any time I called in for assistance. Overall, I was very happy with the experience.’

Dimitar Zahariev needed to expand his knowledge in the Automation and PLC fields so he chose the George Brown College Certificate programs. Dimitar felt, “They were particularly valuable as they allowed me to study online and on my own pace.”

Working fulltime at the Ferrara Candy Company, Dimitar was able to complete the PLC, PLC Technician II and Automation Technician Certificate programs. ‘Without a doubt the way the information is presented and the great simulation software helped me succeed in the programs. Also the flexibility to take the online exams when I was ready was important given my busy schedule.”

Since completing the programs Dimitar has “secured a position with more responsibility, within the Ferrara Candy, as a Control Engineer.’

Edwin Mendija works at Kualapuu Elementary School ‘as the IT Manager, teaches robotics at Molokai High School, runs the robotics education/competition programs at Kualapuu Elementary School,  and is now in charge of the Molokai Robotics League (a league made up of robotics teams throughout our island).’

‘I registered into the Robotics Technician program as I wanted to expand my knowledge of robotics and their real-life applications. The curriculums’ practical examples and Robologix simulation software made the learning more enjoyable.’

'By completing the program, my knowledge of robotics has expanded and I am now better prepared to teach my students. I believe I can help open up more opportunities for my students (as well as myself) and get them ready for their careers.’
