Meet Our Graduates

Kevin Jones
PLC Technician

I work as an industrial electrician at a manufacturing company. I chose the PLC Technician program because many of the machines I work with use PLCs, and I wanted to strengthen my skills in this area. The aspect I liked best was the live technical support. Whenever I had questions or needed help understanding a topic, I received a quick response and clear explanation. I also used the Resource Centre by both phone and email.

The knowledge I gained from the program will be especially useful for troubleshooting in my current role. Since taking the course, my responsibilities have changed from maintenance to electrical. Although completing the program wasn't a requirement, it gave me an advantage. I received a promotion from the maintenance department to the electrical department after completing the program.

Peter Boniface
PLC Technician

I am currently working as an Industrial Millwright with GM Canada. I chose this program because its curriculum aligned perfectly with my career goals. I wanted to deepen my technical expertise and gain practical skills that I could immediately apply to my daily work. I first learned about this program at George Brown through a colleague's recommendation.

One of the aspects I liked most about the program was the structured yet flexible nature of the course. I particularly valued the virtual projects, which allowed me to practice real-world scenarios rather than simply learning theory. The key skill I gained from the program was the ability to read and modify ladder logic, which I plan to use in future roles. I am looking to leverage this credential to further advance my career.

Art Chavez
Electronics Technician

I chose this program to advance my education, build on my work experience, and sharpen my technical knowledge. As an EV Automobile Senior Field Service Engineer with extensive experience at major automotive OEMs, I found that this course perfectly bridges the gap between electronic theory and real-world field diagnostics. The highlight of the program for me was its ability to make electronic components and circuit theory easy to understand. I also liked the interactive, self-paced format of the program paired with an excellent textbook that will last a lifetime.

Even with 35 years of experience in the field, this program provided both the challenge and the opportunity to deepen my electronics knowledge, enhancing my ability to effectively analyze complex situations and develop solutions. I have a stronger background in electronics now and a better approach to diagnostic troubleshooting. While I was already performing advanced electrical and network diagnostics, the program helped me refine my skillset in terms of how to analyze circuit behavior and present technical findings. I will absolutely utilize this knowledge and certificate to continue growing my technical career, as the program perfectly fits my interests in advanced diagnostics, field service engineering, technical training, and engineering support.

Ivan Cherniavskyi
Robotics Technician

I currently work as a Lead Hand/Project Supervisor with Metco Installation Services, specializing in warehouse racking systems and conveyor installations. Our company focuses on material handling solutions, including distribution centers and automation-related projects. I selected the Robotics Technician program at George Brown to strengthen my technical knowledge in robotics and warehouse automation systems, and to better understand the theory behind the systems I work with in the field. I first learned about the program online while searching for robotics and automation courses that could complement my hands-on experience.

I really appreciated how the program combined theoretical concepts with practical applications. It helped me better understand robotics systems, sensors, control systems, and automation technologies used in real-world environments. I mainly used the materials provided and course content for self-study, as the structure made it easy to follow without requiring much additional support. I will apply this knowledge directly in my work, particularly with conveyors, automated systems, and future warehouse automation projects. The program has improved my confidence and technical perspective, especially when troubleshooting or planning installations. I also plan to use this certificate to continue developing my career in automation and robotics-related roles.

Mark Carton
Electronics Technician

I am currently a Technical Manager for electronics contracting company, specializing in the commercial security and audio industries. I was looking for a comprehensive program that offered the depth of traditional trade training but could be delivered entirely online.

After searching online for a solution that fit my needs, I found this program to be the only one that delivered. I chose this course to back my hands-on experience with a formal training certificate. The curriculum is highly relevant, and it has been a great way to brush up on my knowledge and stay current with industry standards.

Here at GBCTechtraining, we are very proud of our graduates. Their stories inspire us, and we hope they will inspire you as well!

Our Graduates have Created Opportunities to get the Jobs they Want

Our students come from many different stages of their professional lives. Some are just starting out in their careers, while others are already well established. Regardless of stage, all our grads realized the opportunities available from taking our programs. Their increased knowledge and skills, combined with the confidence to take that next step in their career, has benefitted many greatly.

Finding the Time to Learn while Juggling the Busy Day-to-Day of our Lives

We know that for our students, time is one of their most valuable resources. Our programs allow our students to work at their own pace, leaving the scheduling of learning, studying and exams up to them.

Through this flexible computer-based training format, our students are able to seek and find the right work life balance to allow them to be successful in these programs. They are able to continue working and spend the time they need with their families while still being able to earn the professional credentials.

Sharpening Skills and Practical Know-How

Knives need sharpening once in a while and so do your skills. Our programs help our students hone their skills. The programs integrate lab experiments with the theory through the use of software that simulates the behavior of real manufacturing tools and systems. It’s a great way to get experience and practice.

Students have the freedom to refer back to the program material using the simulation software to try all the "what-if" scenarios – for example with CircuitLogix, changing parts or component values, then re-running the simulation to see how changes affect the circuit's operation and performance.
