Electronics permeate every aspect of our world, from kitchen appliances and aerospace to medicine and advanced manufacturing, and the technology never stays still. Recent years have seen the rise of Internet of Things (IoT) devices, solid-state power electronics, and advanced battery manufacturing technology. Emerging technologies include organic and biodegradable electronics (with organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) already in use), wearable medical devices, and pervasive artificial intelligence (AI).

The holiday season is here, we wanted to update you on how the holiday break will impact our GBC Tech Training technical, tutorial, and administrative support. 

Office Hours 

The Student Support Center will be closed on Friday, December 20 at 5:00 p.m. and will re-open on Thursday, January 2nd, 2025. 

Automation has found a way to embed itself within the renewable energy ecosystem, promising to make wind and solar power generation more efficient than ever before. Sustainable energy generation is already something that many consider to be intrinsically linked to a brighter future for all.

We hosted our Virtual Open House on October 2nd for prospective students interested in our online Certificate programs including Electronics, Electromechanical, Automation, Electric Vehicles, PLCs, Robotics, and our recently launched Wind Technician program.

The interactive session explored topics and answered a wide range of questions such as:

Conventional wisdom dictates that electric vehicles (EVs) are the cleanest alternative to cars burning fossil-fuels. The federal government’s target of 100% zero-emission vehicle sales by 2035 is based on the widespread adoption of EVs, and consumers are buying plug-in cars in record numbers. Last December, when Environment Minister Steven Guilbeault announced regulated targets for EV sales in the Electric Vehicle Availability Standard he declared, “There’s no mistaking it. We are at a tipping point.”

George Brown College has launched its Wind Turbine Technician Certificate program to address the growing global need for workers skilled in servicing, diagnosing, repairing and installing wind turbines and related equipment.
