If you come across the term, “engineering technician”, you may inadvertently make the incorrect assumption that it is just another term to describe an engineer. While there are some similarities between them, the average day of engineers can significantly differ from that of an engineering technician.  Though both are widely considered to be rewarding and challenging pursuits, a prospective student may favor one over the other based on their skills and aptitudes.

The Student Support Center will be closed on Friday, December 22 at 5:00 p.m. and will re-open on Wednesday, January 3rd, 2024. 

Better Jobs Ontario (formerly Second Career) Can Help You Retrain and Re-enter the Job Market  

Better Jobs Ontario, an Ontario Government initiative, developed to fund eligible people get skills training to help find jobs in high-demand occupations in Ontario. The Second Career grant covers such things as tuition, books, transportation, and a basic living expenses.

Unless you’ve lived under a rock, you’re likely aware that many industries, especially manufacturing, increasingly rely on automation technologies. And while many workers fear the encroachment of automation on their livelihoods, the consensus is that automation will create new, lucrative roles for displaced workers to transition into. A technician will be needed for every robotic arm, light sensor, or system driven by automation to ensure things operate as they should.

The spectrum of job opportunities opening up in the Electric Vehicle Industry is very broad. It will take hardworking technicians of many types to propel the industry into the 2030s, when governments plan to eliminate new gas power vehicles completely. Car companies will require workers in their factories to build and put on the road approximately 19 million cars in the US by 2030. All new car sales in Canada will be electric by 2035.
