The demand for skilled technical workers continues to grow with technological advancement and shifting economies. For example, consider the demand for electric and hybrid vehicles. This demand has grown significantly over the past few years, leading automotive manufacturers to adapt their production to satisfy consumers and meet emission targets. They are investing in projects such as autonomous technology research, with some of these changes being controversial.

As you’re preparing to graduate from your GBC Technical Training certificate program, it’s important to start thinking about your current and next steps to ensure a successful graduation and transition from the program. It can be challenging when figuring out where to start, so we’ve created a list of tasks and ideas to help you get started with the process!

With tax season quickly approaching, it’s time to start preparing and gathering all relevant receipts and paperwork to file your taxes! GBC Technical Training students whose tuition fees have totaled at least $100 are eligible to receive a tax credit for tuition fees through the Tuition, Education and Textbook Amounts Certificate (T2202A). Students can access and download their T2202A from their online student account, which will account for all programs paid for during the 2018 calendar year.

Did you know there are two ways to register for our online technical training certificate programs? George Brown College’s School of Distance Education makes it convenient and affordable for students to register by allowing them to either: 1) register and pay for the entire program through a full program registration, or 2) pay in installment-type payments through the Pay-as-you-learn registration.

Students that choose Pay-as-you-learn have an initial registration cost, and will pay for the other modules when they are ready to study them. The initial cost covers:

Online courses and programs have gained massive popularity in the past few years, attracting a large and diverse population of learners.

At GBC’s School of Distance Education, we offer technical training programs built to prepare International Students for success. Previously, we’ve written about how our tuition fees compare to others and how to leverage your technical background to work in Canada.

In the past few decades, automation has rapidly disrupted and changed industries by redefining responsibilities of existing jobs, and introduced new fields and roles. For example, consider the evolution of Amazon’s warehouses—self-organizing robotic shelves now work with workers to fulfil a high volume of orders quickly and efficiently for rapid delivery, which would not have been possible decades ago!

Online education has brought numerous advantages to learning, such as making education more accessible, and in some ways, more interactive and engaging. However, it has also brought some unique challenges—feelings of isolation, and lack of self-direction and time management issues are common among students in online courses. Isolation is a major obstacle, and students can feel isolated if there aren’t resources or opportunities available to interact with faculty or other students.

At GBC Tech Training, we understand how it can be challenging to get the personal, technical and tutorial support you need when pursuing online education, especially when support is critical to your success in the program. As well, not all online programs offer the same level of support to help you complete your training, which is why our online technical training certificates stand out. Our students have access to the Student Resource Centre which contains a large variety of unlimited resources to help our students succeed and enrich their learning experience.

Online learning is continuing to develop as a great option for obtaining additional skills and experience. At George Brown College School of Distance Education (SDE), our technical certificate programs give you the opportunity to learn using intuitive simulation software, at a pace you’re comfortable with.

If you’re someone considering online technical skills training, it’s important for you to be sure whether it’s a good fit with your lifestyle and best suits your needs as a student.
